Once again, the team at SNL and Andy Samberg have created a wonderful new digital short. I’ve heard a lot of people asking who the other guy in the video is. His name is Jorma Taccone and he was in the movie Hot Rod with Andy Samberg. Definitely a classic video.
In My Pants!
December 7th, 2008Tyler’s Favorite Things (2008) Part 1: The Music
December 2nd, 2008
Well lately I’ve been watching some serious amounts of Oprah (what?) and decided to do my own list of Favorite Things! 2008 feels like the best year of my life so far and i do not want to forget it. That is why I want to share with you some of my favorite things. I am going to do this in a muti-part extravaganza through the month of December. Hopefully my list will be full of stuff from 2008 but there will be a few things that I didnt discover until this year. First up is Music!
These are my favorite albums of the year because I can listen to these nonstop and on repeat for days.
Girl Talk - Feed the Animals
Guaranteed to be at the top of my list this year. If you like to party then you will love this album. I throw it on in the morning just to get excited about the day! This album is like one long flowing explosion of the sweetest nectar in my face! You haven’t heard mashups until you have heard Girl Talk.

Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
This is my first Folk-pop Love. Slow acoustic guitars, tamborines and powerful harmonies make this the best music to listen to while working or just relaxing. Nice and easy and helped me survive many strenuous tasks. Watch out for this band they are great! FLEET FOXES!

Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend
What can I say about this band that everyone in the world hasnt blogged about yet? I think that they are really radical in many many ways. Based in New York City and ready to rock your socks off. Be sure to listen to my favorite song of of their self-titled album below. VAMPIRE WEEKEND!

Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours
I am a big fan of electro-rock and this album has rocked my socks off for the last few months. This Australian electropop group sounds like 80’s post punk electronic and just all around excellent music. There are plenty of remixes out there as well. CUT/COPY

MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
Yes I know that you all have heard this great band from Wesleyan University but that doesnt mean it can’t be on my list also! More electropop for your ears but this truly was a soundtrack to the year 2008. Each song is so very unique and different and blows my brains out every time. These guys will be even bigger in 2009 I guarantee that! MGMT

More Motion Graphics

Constant Changes HD from Tyler Howarth on Vimeo.
I havent had too many videos to post lately, but I just spent a good chunk of time working on my latest motion graphics piece. The assignment was to animate a quote of our choice using animators, text effects, and other after effects techniques. The quote I chose has been one of my favorite quotes for a long time. I originally found it on the inside pocket of my first pair of Volcom jeans in 6th grade. HA! The quote is from an old philosopher named Heraclitus. I put some funky chiptune beats to it to make it fun also. Anyways I tried to apply some concept of change into the piece. It is very short but I hope you enjoy it.

Two Great iPhone Camera Apps
November 8th, 2008Lately I have been enjoying the iPhone’s built-in camera because of the ghetto camera phone style. I recently stumbled upon two great iPhone apps that enhance the functionality of the iPhone camera. Check out CameraBag and PanoLab. CameraBag adds about 8 different filters that each mimic a certain camera or film style. PanoLab is a cool app that allows you to stitch photos together to create cool handstitched panoramas right on the iPhone. Check out some of my results in the slideshow below.
Got any Favorite iPhone Camera apps that you think I should try? Let me know in the comments.

Alphabet Cereal [Motion Graphics]
September 24th, 2008This semester I am taking a Motion Graphics course. ONe of our first assignments was to make the alphabet into a quick animation and trying to focus on transitions. Motion graphics is all about transitions and making them look believable. I made this quick one all by hand using frame by frame animation techniques in Flash CS3. What do you think? I think its really fast but that is cool too i guess. ENJOY!!!

MASH SF/Lance Armstrong
September 19th, 2008Mash Transit Productions has just released their latest short video which was shot in Austin, TX a few months ago. The video features Lance Armstrong who is one of my biggest heroes and some San Francisco riders. I am jealous. Get some!!!
This makes me want to go down a hill right now!
September 10th, 2008Me and my buddy Charlie Hicks used to skateboard down hills in Sonoma all the time. We did some stupid stuff in our day, but nothing compares to what these guys do. Major props for camera trades and lavender suits. Also: A long-time friend/mentor of mine Ari Marcopoulos made this film. Nice job Ari!!!
